On October 17th, 2014 we visited Araxos Air Base with mixed emotions. You do not have every day the opportunity to watch A-7 Corsairs flying that close to you but on the other hand knowing that those will be of the very last flights of the type worldwide our visit suddenly got in another dimension. It was not only A-7s that flew that day but definetely all visitors were anxious to listen to their "swan song".

On October 16th, 2014 we were more than lucky to be hosted by 116 Combat Wing and especially 336 Squadron for a Spotter's Day especially organized prior to A-7 Corsair retirement ceremony. Enjoy the photos taken at that day and read all the details.

On Friday 12th of September 2014 Hellenic Air Force celebrated the 40 Years of Hellenic Air Force F-4 Phantoms. The place could not be other than 117 Combat Wing, Andravida Air Base the nest of the greek Phantoms for the last 40 Years and the first place the first F-4 had landed in 1974. 336 Squadron "Olympos" joined the Royal International Air Tattoo 2014 (RIAT). That was the last time A-7 Corsairs left Greece and all spotlights were heading to Hellenic Air Force aircrafts and crew.

As you probably already know Hellenic AF 336 Squadron "Olympos" participates in The Royal International Air Tattoo 2014 (Fairford UK) . It is gonna be the last participation of the type in international aviation events since A-7s will be disbanded September 2014. Airforce.gr supporting 336 Squadron offered for free the design of a patch especially manufactured for the occasion.
