Συμβουλή του εκ Λυκίας Ιππολόχου προς το γιο του Γλαύκο,
όταν τον έστειλε στην Τροία να πολεμήσει εναντίον των Ελλήνων.
Τη φράση αυτή, η οποία ήταν πολύ αγαπητή
από τον Ρωμαίο ρήτορα Κικέρωνα, την επανέλαβε
ο Γλαύκος στο Διομήδη, μετά τη συμφιλίωσή τους.
Πάντα να είσαι πρώτος και να υπερέχεις από τους άλλους
και να μη ντροπιάζεις τη γενιά των προγόνων σου.

An advice of Ippolochos from Lycia to his son Glafkos,
when the latter left to fight against the Greeks during the Trojan War.
The same advice, (which was also one of the favorite
sayings of the Roman rhetorician Cicero), was given by Glafkos
to Diomedis after their reconciliation:
Always come first, be superior to the others
and do not disgrace your ancestors.
