Monk Joseph… an “own person” for the Hellenic Air Force

A lot of people are wondering who is the priest that stars in Hellenic Air Force official videos. Opinions differ. Some even argue that it is fake just for director’s reasons. Nevertheless this person is real. He is father Joseph (called Iosif-Ιωσήφ in greek). He was born in Peloponnisos in 1958 and his “in world” name is Christos Bairaktaris. Monk Joseph lives in the hideaway of st. Menas in Holy Mountain Athos (Agion Oros-Άγιον Όρος in greek). To learn more about Mount Athos click here.

Students Awarded in Dekelia Air Base
On Sunday 05 April 2009, at Dekelia Air Base an award ceremony for three students of the third grade took place. Their essays about Air Force, distinguished in panhellenic contest, conducted in cooperation with the Hellenic Ministry of Education.
Students are:
* Vlazakis Alexander, grade 19.1.
* Poulakis Vasilios, grade 19.0.
* Michael Evangelou, grade 18.9.
The ceremony included the following activities:
* Flight familirization with T-6A aircraft.
* Awards and money prize.
Please view the following photos taken from Hellenic Air Force official web-site where some of T-6 Texan II patches are shown. Please also consider that instructor pilots wear patches from the previous aircrafts that used to fly… for instance Mirage 2000 and F-5.
